Can someone give me a definition of a commercial vehicle? Would an AA/RAC breakdown van come into that category?

(1) not more than nine persons, including the driver;
(2) goods and "Standard fuel tanks" means the tanks permanently fixed by the manufacturer to all motor vehicles of the same type as the vehicle in question and whose permanent fitting enables fuel to be used directly, both for the purposes of propulsion and, where appropriate, for the operation of a refrigeration system; and gas tanks fitted to motor vehicles designed for the direct use of gas as a fuel are considered to be standard fuel tanks.

My Ford Connect van is described on its V5 as a 'light commercial vehicle'. I would say a commercial vehicle is anything 'designed' to carry goods rather than passengers. Most vans are under 3.5T, so these would come under 'light CV'. A Large CV (used to be HGV) are usually classed as being 7.5T or more. An AA van (Transit or similar) would be under 3.5T.
Thank you. The reason I ask is because we live in a rented house, been here for a year now and really love it. It has a large gravel drive that 4 properties use and last week end the man is one of the houses (he owns his house) mentioned that he owns the drive and that no commercials should have access. He said this to my husband who drives a transit size breakdown van and it's made us wonder if he was having a bit of a dig. Before we took up the tenancy we said to our landlord that we had one car and one van that would be parked here and he said that was no problem whatsoever.
