First of all let me say I am not an expert on the computer, I know the basics but that's all, the landlord of a local pub has challenged me to make a simple web site for the pub, nothing elaborate just a few pages showing the bars, restaurant & beer garden etc. so for my question is there a program that i can download that is simple to use where I can add photo's & text etc. and it would sort it all out and upload it all for me, I assume he would have to buy and register a domain name first. any ideas ? or is it not that simple...

It can be that simple, yes.

Dreamweaver is a more pro package, but Microsoft sell Expression Web (used to be Frontpage), which does just what you want.

(Real pros write the raw HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but this takes a lot of learning.)

You need to register a domain name at somewhere like 123-reg.co.uk, and buy hosting from somewhere like web-mania.com or dreamhost.

I would recommend going the domain name and hosting route for a long term web site though.

Thank you both for your interesting input which I am looking at now, however if anybody else has idea's I would be more than happy to look at them.

If you set it up as a 'blog' type site on something like Wordpress, it will be completely free and you will be able to cover all the aspects you want to, change designs easily, etc, without learning a new package.
