Seveal years ago, whilst on holiday in Perth, Australia, my Mum bumped into a bloke she'd been to junior school with in Essex. I'd really like to hear about others strange coincidences.

1)was sat in a pub in the cotswolds, started a conversation with a stranger who i later discovered that his grnadmother lived in my grandmothers old house in Stirling .. Scotland!
2)Similar to ure mums experience... was in Vienna and bumped into someone from middle school who i hadnt seen since i left!
3) i looked after my friends shetlands for a week, when she came back i said my goodbyes to the cheeky critters thinking i wouldnt see them again, woke up one morning and went outside to get in car to see a shetland ponies backside in the hedge row. I walked into the field to discover they were my friends shetlands who had excaped from her field and made there way to my house purel by chance? and they had never been there before ... bear in mind they had to have travelled about 6 miles to get there over night crossing roads etc etc .... how wierd is that?!
lol well i've probably bored u by now ... but they freaked me out anywho!

Mine's not mind-blowingly strange, but it's probably worth telling. Years ago when i used to live in the London area, i used to come to Devon for my holidays. One time, i was probably about 15 or 16, i was sitting by the pool when i saw a boy (who was with his parents) who went to my school nearly 250 miles away! We hadn't really spoken much in the 3 or 4 years we'd been at school together, but because of the strange coincidence of us both staying at the same holiday site, the same week, and neither of us knew the other was going - we became quite close friends because of it. In fact, i still keep in contact with him to this day, but only via email. I haven't seen him for probably 5 years or so, because i live in Devon now!
20 years ago on the way home from a live gig met an old woman on the road. She insisted on us stopping to have a chat. She took my mates hand and looked at him and found she didn't like him telling him that he was cold and too much in love with money. She then took my hands and said that C would have a big influence on my life when I was 36. 15 years later at the age of 37 I was diagnosed with cancer and ended up surving but with damage leading to disabled status. My friend turned out to be an accountant and a hungers mother at that. Too much of a coincidence for anyone as far as i am concerned.
1/ I was once in a bar in France talking to an American friend who was telling me about the summer he had spent driving along Route 66. "Like the song," I mentioned, but, strangely, he had never heard of it. I spent several minutes singing bits of the song and telling him all the artists who had done a cover version of it, but he still claimed he'd never heard it. Ten seconds later, that very song gets played on the radio.
2/ I recently dreamed that I had bought a copy of a new Paul Auster novel for a friend of mine. When I woke up, I realized it was an unlikely dream, as PA didn't have a new book out and, if he had, I'd have read about it in the book review pages of the various papers I buy and would certainly have bought the book immediately, as he's one of my favourite authors. I got up, switched on the TV and the BBC Breakfast presenter was in the middle of saying "After the news, we'll have Paul Auster on who will be talking about his new novel".
Hmm, not a stunning one I'm afraid, but my first managers manager turned out to have gone to the same college as me (though several years before). We were working in a completely different area to our degrees. We were talking and he mentioned he had been Hockey Captain whilst at College. The college has a fine collection of wooden shields commerating student officers throughout the years and when I next went to look at them (and to find his name) I noticed that 'his' shield was two above mine.
