I make mine in the microwave. One third oats, two thirds milk, stir and zap for 5-6 mins. I use the cheapo value oats from the supermarket. My porridge is very good.
Real oats haven't been milled as fine as the usual oats you find and have more husks. Because of this they do not absorb the milk as well which softens them. You can easily resolve this by blitzing them for a couple of minutes in a food processor.
