dog attack
last week my dog was bitten by another dog. they were both off the lead. my dog had to have internal and external stitches, the vet bill so far is 400 +. the owner at the time said he would pay half the bill. but no money has been forthcoming and i think he should pay the whole bill. i have found out since the attach that this dog has attacked at least two other dogs one of which nearly died. the owners never reported the attacks but both would back me up with a statement. he also refused to give me his name and address. but i have found out where he lives. can i sue him for the money

If the bills are mounting up, maybe he is waiting to be presented with a bill? Have you actually told him how much the bill is and asked him to pay it. You should have reported the attack to the police at the time, but you can still do so now
i did report it to the police, i am still waiting for them to come and tand see me and hopefully go to the mans house and give him a warning about his dog . i'm more worried that the dog might bite a child next time. i think it shoule wear a muzzle.when my dog got bitten. the owner gave me a false name and address but i have found out his address. he came round last week and said he would come back on saturday to pick up a copy of the vets bill. i have not seen him since and am to scared to go round his house and confront him, as for the money i'm trying to get one step ahead of him. seeing if i can sue him beacause i'm sure he's not going to pay any money. i'm scared of walking my dog now.

This recently happened to a friend of mine. I believe the law states that the owner is liable for payment of vets fees if their dog showed aggressive tendencies previously and therefore should have been on a lead.
The police will probably have little interest. I would contact your local council/dog warden to see if they have any records of previous incidents, and get statements from those other owners that you mentioned. Write to the owner asking for payment within a certain time. If he doesn't pay up take it to the small claims court.
Good luck and I hope your dog is ok.
