What a question to ask! I am at the end of my 1st trimester & I wish I could remove my boobs & put them in the freezer! The problem is they itch all day, especially the nipples. My midwife say's it's normal.

Any serious suggestions from you ladies (or Dad's) as to what I can do to help? Thanks!

Oh I do sympathise, the memory of the itching boobies is very fresh in my mind (at my stage of pregnancy the itching has transferred to the bump!). I suggest savlon because that moisturises and cools and it great especially when you're trying to get off to sleep. Obviously you can't do it at work or in public (!!!!!!!) but flannels that you've soaked in cold water can be lovely to take the heat out. Don't worry, the second trimester is great and nothing should be itching!

ooooh poor u,  brings back memories i didnt think i had any boobs b4 pregnancy then they started itching......

Best advice to me was a well known nappy rash cream called kamillisan think its herbal but cant remember, after pregnancy i suffered mastitis and my midwife recommended putting blanched cabbage leaves against your boobs sounds as though it would never work but believe me miracles do happen it really worked mayb it could help itching? have wonderful pregnancy and wish you allthe best when is baby due?

I was going to suggest that too - cabbage leaves in your bra - I have heard that it really works but never tried it myself. If you do try it, let us know how you get on and if it works! I'd love to know.

Thank you ladies, I have had a bad couple of days, so when I got round to checking my e-mails I was delighted to a) get sympathy & b) some weird & wonderful tried & tested methods!

I will try them all, well, maybe not all at once! Will let you know how I get on......

Thank you callisto, you are most kind. I will keep this link active & I will let you know how I & baby are doing. I think I am turning the corner as I have been able to keep food down for 3 days now & where I was repulsed by food up until then & I am now STARVING!!!!

I haven't had to try any of the itchy boobie remedies yet, as they haven't been so bad this week but I have a print out of the suggestions to hand just in case!

As far as your dream to be a midwife all I would say is go for it. My friend was a nurse, then a Mum & she has retrained to be a midwife and say's it's the best thing she has ever done (apart from her hubby & babies)

Best of luck in your decision making.x

Awww I think its so lovely that you're pregnant. My little girl is 30 months now (2 1/2) and I would love another one...! I just remember how being pregnant really messes you up! If its not itchy boobs, its (if you're unlucky) piles, or constant, permanent hunger, and your brain cells go completely to pot!! I ate oven chips about 4 days a week for dinner as they were the only bland thing I could stomach... I couldn't touch anything even slightly spicy! I also used to get cravings for chewy sweets. Oh - if you get the "metal" taste in your mouth it means you're not getting enough "zinc" in your diet.

Anyway, please do let us know how you get on... are you planning on finding out the sex?

Oh, and I am always plugging this website, but its been my saviour right from pregnancy to this very day:

www.babycentre.co.uk

And if you go to this Board, you can chat with mums that are all at the same stage of pregnancy as you (I chat with the mums on the November 2002 board - when my daughter was born and have made many firm friends on there :o) )

Thank you Otrere, you too are very kind & I will indeed check out babycentre.

Thanks for the tip on zinc, I had a hellish metalic taste for a few weeks when I couldn't keep anything down & I'm pleased to say that now I can eat again it has gone. Each day is getting better, less tired, less sickness/feeling sick. My husband & I went for scan today & I'm pleased to say that we are a week further on that they 1st thought. So we are 13 + 3 now. Very excited!!

We are not going to find out what we are having but I will let you know through this question as soon after the birth as I can (manage to sit up!)

I hope that you do manage to have another one as you obviously love being a Mum! x

Hi callisto, sorry didn't reply sooner, had a busy few days! I am pleased to say that I've been feeling much better & have a bit more energy now. I'm eating more but still feel sick at the thought of many foods so I have a small selection that I'm enjoying. This weekend it is tuck crackers, cannot get enough of them!

I couldn't muster up the stomach strength to boil cabbage leaves so I bought some Kamillosan like you suggested & it has been a gift from God !! Still get itchy, but the cream soon calms it down. It will be an essential supply for my post baby/breast feeding time too!

We went for a Nuchal Scan last weeks & it was a tense few days until the results came back but I'm delighted to say that we have been put in a low risk (actual = 1:1600) of having a DS baby. They have also dated us at 27th Nov, so I'm 15 weeks today not 14. I am really begining to enjoy being pregnant, especially as I'm starting to get a bump!

Thank you for asking how I am, I can never get over the kindness & support from my fellow ABers.

Hope you & your 3 lovely girls are well.

counting down the weeks stay in touch on site and let us know how things are going and we are allhere for you if want help or chat x

If you are out there callisto, I thought you might like an update on how I'm getting on.

Life has got a lot better now I am 18 weeks, still being sick but only 2-3 times a week. Eating for Britain but have indigestion to cope with now. I had a glass of water the other day & it gave me indigestion! I would advise buying shares in Gaviscon as they will be worth a fortune by the end of my pregnancy!

I am managing to do loads of stuff now, but working full time takes it's toll on me by the end of the week. I am out & about a lot more, hence the reason I have been absent from the AB for a couple of weeks.

Enjoying shopping for baby & getting confused at the 100's of choices. Got another scan on 19th July (no I'm not finding out what baby's sex is!) so will update you again then.

Hope you & your girls are good.

Tiggs. x
