is this a summons?

The first time I asked a question about answering a summons I left out something that may make a difference.I did not actually receive papers or an officer or representative of the court did not come to my hme or aywhere else to serve a summons. An officer called my home and talked to my daughter and asked her to gve me thedate of court. I am the one who filed papers against someone and then found out I was mistaken. I have tried everything to drop the charges, but, could not. So is the phone call considered a summons?
