smoke alarm ??

not quite sure where to post this question ! we had a new smoke detecter fitted 2 weeks ago. Yesterday it start beeping (for no reason) it wouldnt stop until battery was removed by my partner.......... problem now is that after 30 hours his hearing hasnt returned to normal in his right ear. to make matters worse he,s already deaf in his left (due to a viral infection 2 year ago ) anyone had similar problem? thanks julie

You don`t state who fitted the smoke detector, was it a fireman, or a friend of yours whom may have kept the new battery and used a low one. Try a new battery. Tell him to see his GP about his ear.
