On further checking,came across a book called"the history of broadcasting in the UK:the golden age of wireless" by Asa Briggs. It refers to "in town tonight"
in it is the following"the stentorian shout of "stop",Freddie Grisewood was the first-normally quite unstentorian- shouter". I assume he did the carry on London bit.
