Did you find it unmissable or like myself one big yawn?

I switched on as did millions of others to enjoy the show, even after I had been bored to pieces over the constant advertising during the week that a new XFactor was to be televised on Saturday evening.

From the very start we had to endure howling screaming mobs, who seemed to be automatically switched on and off with every opening and closing of the presenter's mouth. Although I kept saying 'Oh! come on then start the show' it still went on and on, in the end I just had to turn it off, I had had enough.

Far too much hype, with nothing at the end of it.

Do others agree, or is it me who doesn't enjoy a spot of culture??????????

I enjoyed it, but I agree aog, getting to the first ad break purely on build-up is pushing it a bit!

I think the decision to refresh the format is a good one, and I think, as previously, there is an even balance between the succesful and the deluded - and for those who prefer one or the other, there are usually spin-off shows at the end of the series featuring each, for you to pick your chosen style of 'singing'.

I'll persevere with it as long as they show shots of Ceryl Cole. She doesn;t have to do anything - although speaking with her divine Geordie accent is always a bonus, but just seeing her will assure my continued patronage.

X Factor and its ilk is one of the real problems with society today.

Why do people think it is funny to watch people with a mild mental health problems (ie delusion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusion) and point and laugh at them.

Might as well put cameras in a Psychiatric hospital and watch patients. Lets call it Saturday Night Spazza

Can you imagine the talk in the office on Monday - "Did you see the woman who was walking around and licking all the furniture - wasn't it ssooooo funny"

Why bother watching or participating in the phone calls to register your favourite!....What has become of the past winners?????????

It was OK when they had to apprise these people of their lack of talent in private auditions at least they could be embarrassed in the privacy of their own home when it was screened.
I think though that most of these people suffer from the current longing to be 'famous' for it's own sake and will put up with the public embarrassment purely for the chance of being on 'telly'.

I agree Whickerman, don't like the new format either.

Too many ads, and they're also letting the contestants sing more of the songs, therefore they can't show as many wannabe's as they did the last series.

Our television suffered a downward slant when just a decade ago we followed the US method of clapping screaming and idolation of nobodies.

Very disappointed with the new format. I fully agree with andy-hughes first statement.......what a waste of time!

I'm with Oneeyedvic. I was visiting an ill elderly relative who had this tripe on and so unfortunately saw it. Bread and circuses.
