Converting a bus - laws and regulations
10 Answers
I have just bought a double decker bus to convert into a party bus. I would like to know what the laws are in doing this e.g. Inward facing seats/ seatbelts/bars on board etc. Any help appreciated.

if it has more than 9 seats then you need a PSV license to drive it.
what you need to do is convert it into a motorhome with less than 9 seats and register it as such.
What you then put in your motorhome is irreverent as long as it's not more seats.
insurance will be a different matter.... if somebody has an accident at one of your "parties" and you have not got insurance to cover it you will be stuffed! Also if you are sellining alcohol you will need to get the bus licensed, wich I suspect will be next to imposible!

Janzman - I am on your side. Who in their right mind would consider a business project without looking into the pros & cons and also legal requirements.
Crazy by name and crazy by nature, should have got all relevant info then waited for another bus to come along. Unless you are one of the dragons in the den with money to spare (oops can't be one of them, they'd have got info first also)

I really dont want to get into a online row here, I was just asking for some advice on a simple question. FYI... I do have a full business plan, i have spoken to the relevant authorities, police, done a years research on marketing and advertising the bus as a business. If all of this still went wrong i know i could still sell the bus for 3 times what i bought it for - I cannot loose, so maybe should have taken the idea to the den!! I came on this website for help on a simple question about how many seats i can have facing inwards, not abuse!! I now know this answer so can continue with what looks to be a very profitable business. Thanks for you help!!!
