Why cant individuals check thier own records too make sure there are no mistakes. We can check our credit history and make amends so why not the this.
We sometimes hear of people losing jobs because of wrong information.

Under current legislation for England and Wales Basic CRB checks are not available to individuals. However, Scottish law is different and so a subject can apply to CRB Scotland for this information but it does not include all details held for that subject.

Standard CRB check has more detailed information for those who are employing people in more responsible positions.

Enhanced CRB check will also give intelligence from Police files (eg. about child protection issues) for the benefit of the prospective employer.

if you request a crb check or an employer does you should also get a copy at the same time, but it only lasts for 6 months
