The cutting down on the number of zeros of any currency?

For example: In Romania there's going to be a...of its currency. �1 will equal to 6 LEI instead of 6,000.

I think reevaluation would fit the bill
On second thoughts Revalued would be better
Revaluation is the word you are looking for. Here's a Wikipedia on the recently revalued Turkish Lira as an example.
The term is devaluation. It was used in Britain by the Harold Wilson government when he famously said "this will not change the value of the money in your pocket".
Sorry, I misquoted Harold Wilson. He actually said "this will not change the value of the pound in your pocket".
wrong direction Hodder: devaluation means the currency ends up being worth less, which was what happened under Wilson (the pound was worth less against other currencies, that is). bartholomew is thinking of the opposite: if there are only 6 lei to the pound, it's worth more than when there were 6,000.

Dja know, for those that have long memories, that this very same question arose when de gaulle in 1958 made the nouvelle franc worth 1000 old ones. The rate of exchange of the old ones did not change so it was not really called a revaluation - currency reform was used I think.....

and erm, it was James Callaghan the then chancellor who said in harold wilson's govt that does not mean that the pound in your pocket....in a black and white party political broadcast. He explained that he said this because just before he went onto the tell, someone said that the OAPs were thinking that they would be given 15/6 for every pound in their pocket......

I remember my father almost thrwoing a fit when he heard it.....

Callaghan later became possibly the worst prime iminster of the twenthieth century ten or so years later.
