I have been to York Maize today for the second time in as many weeks.
We took the grandchildren and they had such a fantastic time that we didn't even have time to go round the Maize (both times).
It is absolutely super for children, and we spent over 4 hours there. Well worth a visit.
If you go make sure you go on the tractor ride, it is a scream and you will get wet!!

I'm taking my grandson to York on Wednesday denis, we're staying in the city overnight, how far is the maize from there?
Its even better when they do the Halloween maze at night!!! Absolutely scary, hilarious, silly, fab, daft and full of weirdos.... and they are the punters that pay to go in and be scared!!!

Check it on their website... I went last year for the first time and it was soooo much fun... my mate got chased for 5 minutes by a man with a chainsaw!!! We kept bumping into Freddy Kruger so many times he eventually told us the way out!!!!

Its not for kids.. or the faint hearted... but such a scream! I am not easily scared, but even I was screaming at one point. Cant wait for this years!!!!

Enjoy :-)
Dot - its not in the city centre - about 10 mins outside near a place called Elvington - if you google it it has a website (the maze!)

Are you going to see the Railway Children at the Railway Museum? Its supposed to be really good?
what is that a live performance of the book/film? I was mad on gary Warren when I was 13, tut lol

Check that link Dot - its a live performance actually at the railway museum. My friend took her daughter a couple of weeks ago and said it was good.

As for the Maize - there is a bus stop right outside it - their website should give you more info.
OKG I 've just googled him and he works in Canada in the Fur Trade!!! What would Mr Perks think!!!

Dot, as devilspawn says it is about a 10 minute ride on the A64 bypass. Last time I recommended it, I said there was a bus service from the city, but I looked today and I could not see any sign of a bus service, and I seem to remember you will not have access to a car, but it is worth making some enquiries.
I wasn't sure whether I was going to take the car, it depended on where we were staying, I'm still not sure.

Gives you the bus info - its not one of the major bus companies in York, but it is still available!!!

Dot - see if you can stay with Craft!!!! If she hasnt got the builder in again!!!
I've got the route, it's 95 miles away and will take me 1hr 45mins and so i will take the car, there's a travellodge near too that looks a good option!!!
Dont forget The Railway Children - check if there are tickets left though.

Which Travelodge you planning on? I can advise if its OK or in the middle of absolutely nowhere
well the AA routeplanner shows one I will be passing at Tadcaster
sorry Dot - was watching tv!!!

There is a Travelodge on the A64 just passed Tadcaster.... it really is in the middle of nowhere. Depends what you want from a place. If its just to put your head down then thats OK - 15 mins and you are in the centre of York by car. Not an easy place to get back to, as you have to pass it and turn off to Tadcaster and come back on the other carriageway.....

well there's 5 of us going now, just to the maze for a day on Thursday!!! None of us had heard of it, your link sold it to everyone and I may have to hire a people carrier!!!!
My grandson is really excited and says he will find his way out first!!!

Hi Dot, pleased to know you are going next Thursday. Pray for good weather as it is all outdoors. Have a good time, and don't forget the Tractor ride. The bouncy pillow ( like a bouncy castle but bigger) is a real hit with the kids.
