For the past 3 days I have heard an unusual bird singing. I live in the east midlands, 2 miles from a city, in a wooded parkland. The sound goes: boinkg..boingk...boingk-------tiddly powy..tiddly powy...tidly powy. Yes, I know this sounds barmy but it's the nearest I can describe it. I have checked RSPB site and listed to all of their sounds but none are even similar. It is driving me mad!
haha, I'm glad I'm not the only barmy one (must be the E Midlands thing, I'm from Derby)...my neighbour's good with birsong, I'll, erm, hum (?) that song to her if I can stop laughing & if we come up with anything I'll let you know Pendiz.
Sorry Pendiz, I didn't read your question properly and realise now you have tried the RSPB Site. However, I don't think the birds Wildwood mentions are British
Are you sure though that they are birds? They sound mighty like clangers to me:
