What sort of computer have you got?
I am on my dad's old iMac os 8.6 right now, but usually on work's system with lightning fast broadband. I own an eMac g4 but it crashed some months ago and I can't afford to have it fixed right now. How many of you have a Mac? I bought one because I reckoned I was some kind of designery guy but now realise if anything goes wrong it's a nightmare. I don't know very much about computers or anything but it would be interesting to know what people spend their days staring at...

if you have the installation disc that came with the machine, start the machine, and put the disc in. ( i am assuming it wont load the OS, but will power on.) reboot the machine while holding down the c key. It will try to boot from the disc and give you formatting options. you should be able to reload the system software without losing your other programs and data
I have a Sony Viao Desktop, can't remember the spec but its something like a 3Ghz 1Gb RAM etc etc. But it's got hyperthreading which caused havoc with USB peripherals. (to the point where they were useless) so I decided to get another computer. It's a MacMini which I'm very happy with. I also have a Compaq Laptop and they all connect via a wireless broadband router.
I'd agree about the Mac, I'm more than happy with the MacMini but that's mainly because it cost less than 400. I wouldn't buy a iMac or one of the G5's because they just cost way to much.

At home I use a Mac - G4 tower. It's running 0S 10.2.8. At work I use a G5 Mac, all singing and dancing.
With you eMac ridgie74 is right. It's running OSX, so pop in Disc 1 of the master discs; shutdown and restart and hold down the C Key (to make it boot up from the CD) Then you can reinstall the System Software. Any probs, post back on here and will try to talk you down.
