Neatness, or obsession?

Whilst I was working on a house this week, I noticed that the next door neighbour was hanging out his washing.
All his socks were hung in pairs, with the distance between them all the same. His pants, shirts & other washing were all hung in exactly the same way. In fact , it looked as though he'd got a ruler to measure the distance between them.
My question is. Is this a male obsession, or do women do the same thing?

Hmmm, I have a bit of a washig line weirdness thing going on too.

My washing has to go down in descending order, so at one end, furthest from the house I'll have my largest items hanging, bedding, towels, jeans etc, then they go down in size so that the smallest is on the line nearest the house.

And while I have lots of different coloured pegs, the same colours have to be used on each item. A red and a blue peg holding up a shirt will never do!
Mr CRX doesnt hang washing out, so i cant tell if its a male obsession.
But my ex husband used to watch me put the washing out and then go out and "do it properly" lol
oh no, just when we weaned neti off her matching pegs habit she'll see this & think she was normal all along

I'm a bit like B00 with the order...but that's so the people over the way can't see my interlock bloomers, there's a tree in the way :o) ...and NO, it's not a massive tree!

i have the smaller things nearer to the house so as to make it easier to walk in and out to garden. Towels etc are better out of theway.
I just hang things out any old how!!!

Like Red, Mr Funny would come along and hang his shirts properly!!!! Ooh er!

I also once worked for a guy (single of course), who had 4 door mats at his front door. You had to use them in order, or you got told off! He also had a meal list, as he planned the food he was going to eat for the following week.
Hi carrust,
no, not obsessed in any way! Though I do pair socks up together & knickers go kind of hidden behind other stuff lol!
Neatness, or obsession?

Hmm.. Id say that this guy sounds like he's an angry loner with too much time on his hands and is possibly a serial killer....keep him away from all sharp objects and never have
your back to him......

Oh yeah, To answer your question some throw it on anyway and others have their own certain way of doing it.......Maybe they think it will help dry them faster? lol!
haha Red....My cousin use to live with me. When I asked him why he kept leaving his wet washing in the basket for me to hang out he replied 'because everytime I hang it out you come out and redo it'

Sachs. Do you have to wash the duvet when you do your smalls? :-)
Definitely not a male thing (or even a female thing in our household).

However large items go near the clothes prop because the line is higher there and clothes that take longer to dry go in the bit that gets sunshine all day. And knickers and socks go in in random order.

I don't wash his knickers and socks with mine!!

As for pegs, its take your pick as they come out of the bag.

Where's Neti then!

Carrust, my old neighbour used to be obsessional. He used a ruler to plant out his potatoes at equal distances and his whole life was ordered. OCD, in my opinion, just like your old boss!!
Yep - me too - all my washing has to go in sequence and hung in a certain way - socks together etc etc - if Mr Den hangs anything out for me - I always go and change it - I thought this was just a women thing {:oD

I love watching washing blowing on the line - its kinda relaxing.
LOL carrust! Only when I'm hanging my bra out!!! hee hee!

Lofty. Ooooerr, I must have a potato obsession, or a bit of common sense. That's how I plant mine out on the allotment. If you plant them too close together you'll get small spuds.
LOL. But can't you guess the distance apart quite easily and would half an inch here or there matter. Up to a meter in length and I could be pretty accurate by just guessing!! ;o)
Question Author
By planting them out at the same distance apart you maximise crop production:-))))))))
I dont have a washing line :-(
I do exactly the same, and all the pegs have to be the same colour as the opposing one, drives me mad but has to be done!!
Yay long live BOO I totally agree!!!!
