Couple of enquiries:-
i Bought a 20 amp neon wall mounted switch for a heater. However, the neon light shows on even when i switch it off
ii Asked for a quote for a new Consumer Unit which was about £300. Next thing I'm told it can't be done without renewing the meter tails ot 60 amp fuse. This would cost another £200. Is that essential?
Thanks

We charge £200 + vat for a 10 way dual RCD swap over. (MK usually). This will include the tails unless board is more than 2 meters from the meter position. We then charge £10 per meter plus £ 30 to cover cost of KMF(double pole switch fuse). If any faults are detected when testing of existing circuits is carried out rectificatio n is charged extra.

i think that bright spark is very reasonable with his charges. we paid £150 for one days labour on a test /inspect job.it was part 10 year update on the existing part of the house and part full check on a large extension ,so that the spark treated it all as new.we had already bought a MK ccu (board), 17th edition with double RCDs for £110 and i thought that was not expensive and i was really pleased to get the work done, peace of mind, i mean.
these guys turn up with a van full of kit to overcome problems that may arise and they pay £750-£900 for a meggar tester to test the boards. i think the charges are very fair.
