Report them for assult!! Violence towards anyone no matter what their sex isn't acceptable. I would hope the man unless having to defend himself would walk away and not retaliate.

she asked him if he loved her and he said no. She wasn't his girlfriend just somebody he was trying to help.

She has no excuse for hitting him, if he reported her to the police it would be no more than what she deserves. Sadly it may mean now that when a woman (or man) is in real need of help he may walk on by after this experience and all because she was drunk!

It really depends on how much further he wants to take it himself but just because it was a woman that hit him should not mean that he doesn't take it any further. As wingnut rightly says unfortunately he may not be so quick to help next time. People should earn respect by their actions not just get it because we are 'the fairer sex'. That's todays world

thank you for your answers, unfortunately he was so surprised he hit her with back of his hand and so he has to go to court for Common Assault

That's awful - are there witnesses ?

It took place in his house but there are two witnesses to her being drunk and one to her mother saying that they usually sort these things out but she ran crying to her neighbour who rang the police.
