Supermarket value stock cubes

It seems that every supermarket has removed their value branded stock cubes from sale a few months ago, never to come back. These were very cheap and handy. Anybody have a clue as to why they have been wiped out?

Can't say fro sure but they may have all been sourced from one factory which may have gone bust owing to the current economic climate.
