Hair colour

Do any of you who are blondes colour your hair yourselves?

I get mine done in highlights at the hairdressers but it's costing me a fortune, someone suggested I try doing it myself and I would give it a go, which brands are supposed to be good?

I'm naturally mid-dark brown, and I would just want an all over mid blonde, not highlights or anything?

When I was blonde (about 7 years ago) I did attempt to my own hair a few times. The results were me dying my hair an interesting shade of orange and having to get the hairdresser to sort it out and on another occasion after I'd been doing it myself for a while, I was told my hair was developing a 'greenish tinge' when I went to get it cut and agian, had to get the hair dresser to get it sorted. My sister has slightly darker hair than me and she dyes hers blonde all over and again, the times she's done it herself it's just not looked anywhere near as good as when she's been to the hairdresser and had it done properly.

Personally, I'd always go to my hairdresser.

I have short blonde hair and have been colouring my hair for years at home. I currently use Belle Colour Honey Blonde. Remember if you go for anything Ash you will get blue/khaki tinges for a few washes (this even happened to me at the hairdressers), anything Beige will be ginger/orangey for a few washes. Even permanent colours do fade after a few washes. I retouch mine every 3 weeks anyway as regrowth looks worse on short hair! People actually stop me and comment how nice my hair colour is, but you have to keep it well conditioned - I use Charles Worthington Minerals Spa mask its wonderful.
