Dan Brown - Angels and Demons

Somebody bought me Angels and Demons for Crimbo, I started reading it yesterday morning and it's quite heavy going.  What can I expect from a Dan Brown book?

I take it you mean the visit to CERN? Do persevere with it even if you're not really a science person. Once you get into the story (and he takes a while to set the scene in Angels and Demons) it's a brilliant rollercoaster ride - watch out for the little details as he brings them in later in the book.

 

I read this book years ago when it first came out in hardback and loved it.

Thanks, I've heard a lot about his books in that they are good, but not normally my cup of tea.  I will persevere and may even go on to read his others.

I've only ever read "The Da Vinci Code", which I found to be the literary equivalent of a fast-paced action movie: fun, but not particularly taxing.

You can expect a typical bestselling modern novel: plot driven and shallow; shallow, not because there is no meaning behind the plot, but because there is no truth behind the meaning.

My advice is, if you read him, treat it as entertainment, and if you do delve deeper, compare his sources and other sources.
