Please don't post 'wrong place for this'.I have put it in Arts and Lit, but there is not the turnover or response we get here and you ABers are very knowledgeable and I am sincere in saying that. For a church service we wanted a poem celebrating the church in the community or how its building is seen therein. Grateful for suggestions.
Had thought of a Philip Larkin, but googling got a blank because of copyright,so maybe that is a problem with all published poems if we read them out? Cheers!
There's a prayer by Revd Trevor Williams which starts 'Give us, Good Lord, a vision of our world as your love would make it' which might suit your purpose. I don't know what the copyright situation is, but it's in a book called Favourite Prayers compiled by Deborah Cassidy.
Thank you too, tearinghair. I think the organiser will have to worry about the copyright. I was just asked to find a poem suitable, but a prayer sounds fine. Was wondering whether I should write one myself,if we get stuck!!
