I am watching Red Hot Ballroom on Ch 4 & school kids are being taught to dance but 2 boys are not allowed to take part (& have to organise the music instead). The reason being is that it is against their religion...can anyone tell me what religion it is & the reasoning behind it? Many thanks : )

i googled it and found that one was jewish, the other muslim. don't know why, as far as i know neither religions bans it particulalry, maybe certain countries. i guess their parents must be strict.
One or two of the more fervent Christian sects, in particular some of the Baptist demoninations, frown on dancing, because they see it as lewd and immoral.
If my own recollections of being a teenage boy and that of my peers was anything to go by, you would have been able to sign us up to pretty much anything at all if there was the faintest chance of " lewd and immoral" behaviour :)

It is, in fact, for that very reason that I can to this day execute a passable pasa doble! :) - and if I had known my parents particularly disapproved of it - all the more reason to do it!
Ha ha. Olé!
