Haggling for new Toyota
I have 2 dealers within the same distance from me, opposite directions. I am planning to buy a new car under the scrappage scheme. The dealer I have been to, wants to throw in mats and a tank of petrol, but is reluctant to go as far as mudflaps. He says the scrappage deal is already good and apprently they are making a loss on the cars....ahem....
Could I take this offer to the other dealer and say I have this offer but I want mudflaps too. Could you oblige? Or is this not the done thing to go round same franchise dealers???

Tell the dealer what you want and how much you want to pay. Always have a bit in your back-pocket as a compromise, but also be prepared to walk away if you do not get the minimum amount you are after.
It is still a buyer's market.
If you want carpets, fuel, mudflaps or whatever as a minimum, then tell the dealer that if you don't get them it is a deal breaker.

Hi Paul
the dealers have an amount to play with Eg/ their profit, ma bey like many on here I can be a very cheeky Bsd when buying a used or new car, first of all do your homework, where is the nearest to deal with & as said work them against the other, then check the nearest big town near you look in Yellow pages & state to THAT dealer if you can beat this price we MAY have a deal, It's worth travelling a few miles if you are going to gain in your back pocket, go for Tax, fuel, Warranty, & as said do not be a soft touch & say yes, stand your ground & if need be as said walk away, I go for all I can my wife's says I am very embarrassing & do you know Paul, I could not give a SHt if it saves me a amount of money that's what the game is all about, you have had everyone's advise take it or be taken in by the sales Crp ( A lot on here do) Good Luck.
