"Dogs in rescue tend to be bouncier..." Really? So all those ones I've seen looking pathetic and staring balefully at you in desperation that you may home them are really happy-go-lucky, devil-may-care, roustabouts, as opposed to a calm, laid-back, butter wouldn't melt pedigree? Codswallop. Dogs are dogs are dogs, they're all beautiful and each has its own personality. "
dancairo, i was trying to encourage the OP to look beyond the "rush at the wire Oh please love me take me home" that you do see at some rescue centres and point out that behind that there may well be a loving laid back dog who only really wants a home and a big settee to crash out on and is stressed out by being in rescue.
Of course dogs are dogs and all lovely...what i am saying is that if you go to a good breeder who knows his or her pets and their nature then you have the best chance of predicting what kind of temperament you will get and I did say that even then a great deal will depend on upbringing and the handler.
