if you are supersticous call it 'rabbits foot' or something
I seem to remember Pearl Necklace was a nice name for a boat, this was on another thread a long time ago!!!!
How could you do it? no idea

But don't call it polo
call her poseidon.....
carve/paint/label the new name on it somewhere..........
you either have to overcome your superstition, or leave the name as it is.
This superstition goes back a long way, to the days when the ships name was carved into the keel board, thus anyone( pirates ) for example would have to carve away some of the keel board to remove the name, thus weakening the structure of the whole ship, causing the keel to break in extreme cases,
This doesn't apply nowadays as ships and boats are constructed differently,
But the superstition still remains.

lol @ cath...captain smith was born but a few miles from my house cath lol
Interesting Stoke you should offer to the remaining ceremony then by virtue of default - lol
lol cath yes i could smash a bottle of tizer over the bow...lol
Why dont you use a name that's very personal to you...ie your mothers name...grandmothers name...

If i had a boat i would certainly not want anyone else to name it....
