Hi folks, does anyone out there know when is the best time to start planting tomato plants and bean seeds (runner or french). Not now obviously, but want to be sure of the right time of year to start looking for them in the garden centres.

Thanks,

tomatoes--
heated greenhouse - from january
unheated-from march
outdoors from april----depending on where you live

beans-from may
I usually plant my runner beans straight out in the garden on Whitsun Bank holiday weekend.
You can sow broad beans in the first week of November. They will "come in" about a month before spring sown beans.
