Canceling holiday, how to claim

I was due to fly out to spain today but i have been unble to go do to sickness bug.
I have tried to call my doctors in order to get a sicknote to give to the insurers so i can claim my money back but my doctors are closed until monday!
If i go to the doctors on monday to get a sicknote will they be able to back date it until todays date in order to claim on the insurance.
I am just a little worried that if they cant then i will lose my money, but surley it cant be helped if the doctors are not open?

i have had sickness and upest stomach< the travel docs say i need a sicknote but my worry is they wont be able to backdate it

I would suggest you ring your surgery out of hours service, but you may have to pay for a certificate as they would probably consider it non-urgent.

They won't backdate it but they don't need to - it will be accepted as it is.

and it depends on your doctor - but many charge for insurance certificates anyway.
