pps files...
Hello..
Can anyone help me? I've got friends who send me 'pps' files but unfortunately I can't open them.
I've changed my Broadband package from Tesco to Sky, on Tesco no problem but with Sky it just can't be done, or I can't do it. Can anyone tell me how I can open them? I've tried Google but its all soo confusing.
Not tooo technical pleeese.

PowerPoint is expensive but you don't need it to simply view a presentation. You can download the free PowerPoint Viewer program instead:

Right-click on the PPS file and select 'Open With'. Scroll down to the Powerpoint Viewer program. Click on it and check that the 'Always use this program . . .' box has a tick in it. Click 'OK'. (If the PowerPoint Viewer program isn't in the scroll-down list, click 'Other', navigate to the location of the program and double-click on it).

Oh How disappointed I was when yet again it was to no avail. As you said I right clicked on the pps file and the drop down menu said Open NOT 'Open With' when clicked up came the old message "The file does not have a programn.. ect.

I'm guessing that the PPS file is still attached to the email. Try saving it to your hard drive first. (Right-click and select 'Save as'. Navigate to a suitable location, such as the desktop or 'My Documents' and save it to there). Then go to where you've saved the file and right-click on it again. 'Open with' should now appear.

Chris,... Well, you led me a fine old dance, once again took all your instructions on board, soo I fiddled and farted around clicking here & there, some were productive some not but... wait for it HOORAY!! it worked. I'm soo pleased with myself and YOU. Today I've had a great day opening the files, some so beautiful & some funny & others meaningful.
I'd like to thank you again Chris. In the future if I have a pc prob, I know who to ask now. My old Dad used to say "If at first you don't succeed - Try Try Try again" He was right.
