Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones

Does anyone have any experience of these?  I've seen some great reviews, but also some terrible reviews of all things Bose.  I would be grateful for any feedback from anyone who has experience of these before I commit to this pricey purchase.

how much are they, out of interest? I keep seeing them advertised in the BA in-flight magazine High Life but they don't give a price. i bought some cheap noise cancellers from Century21 in NYC (took a punt as everything in there is massively discounted) and, although the noise cancelling bit kind of works, the sound quality is poor.

have you tried consumer review sites such as www.ciao.co.uk?

There was a review on The Gadget Show a few months ago, and the earplug type of earphone (the Shure S5C to be precise) came out on top. The S2C is a lot cheaper and is very good.
