Hill of beans
3 Answers
'The problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans', 'It's not worth a hill of beans' and so on. Can't think that 'hill of beans' was invented by the scriptwriters of Casablanca but when does it first occur in print and what does it refer to? A hill of beans might be quite valuable to some (Mr Heinz, for a start !)
