Repairs to Artex ceiling

My ceilings are plasterboard, scrim taped joints, skim coat and then Artex in a swirl pattern. An area of Artex has de-laminated along a joint, but having removed the loose Artex I find that there is no sign of movement or cracking of the taped join or its skim coat. (what may have caused this de-lamination?). I am now left with a scar about 5 feet long by 2 inches wide to make good. Advice please on how to proceed. Should I give the exposed skim coat a coat of PVA and then try to match the pattern with what? Do I have to purchase a bag of Artex or would Pollifiller be OK? What sort of applicator would have been used to achieve the swirl pattern. Any and all advice received will be very welcome. Thanks.

Hi, Can't answer all the technical questions but I do know you can buy tubs of readymade Artex from B & Q.

You could do a smooth repair then cover up the remaining artex to match, unless of course you want to keep the artex.

I think you might have found out why Artex has gone out of fashion .......... if it's come off along a joint, then it's usually because the joint may not have been taped properly in the first place.
I never like to admit that something might be impossible................ but .......... patching Artex comes closest
However well you do it ....... it will always be noticeable.
PVA is always good........... then Artex or something like "Polytex" if they still make it.
I couldn't explain how to do the swirls. I'd have to show you. Do have a go by all means, but, it's not going to look good :o(
Can you dig into your pocket and get the whole ceiling skimmed?
