This plant, Salvia elegans, comes from a hot area in Mexico, and will only flower here in a hot summer, which we have not had for the last 2 years. It is Autumn-flowering, when the daylight gets shorter. But lack of heat for the last 2 years has obviously prevented it from maturing. If you can obtain it, try the regular species of Salvia elegans, or the cultivar known as 'Honey Melon'. Both fragrant, and earlier-flowering.
