moving at 106 yrs old
what sort of prat would say that it won't put "at risk" the old folk that have to be moved from their home, don't these people realize that all the poor dears want is to be left in peace to see out their days in a familiar place surounded by familiar faces and friends, they don't care if they don't have the latest and most up to date stuff around them, a lot of them probably spent many years without even an indoor toilet, alright a move won't physically hurt them but such a move will cause a great deal of trauma and is not fair treatment of the elderly. all I can beleive is that the council think they can make more money out of the site of the home than they do now, how I hate these high handed so and so's. what do you think?

............... and the council's interests are the same as the council taxpayers of Wolverhampton.
I know - let's propose a referendum for the council taxpayers of Wolverhampton. Q1 - would you rather have £10 per year extra on your bill for the next umpteen years (until the last resident passes on, presumably) or is it better to find alternative accommodation now?
Looks like a no-brainer to me.
Do I see you putting your hand in your pocket, Cecil?
As always, these situations are fine to pontificate about - until, of course, it impacts Me, Me, Me. Same as 'we all know the retirement age has to increase due to ageing population - as long as I'm not impacted.

at least mushroom 25 has some idea, and yes I would put my hand in my pocket buildersmate, can you all say the same? before you answer remember that you may be one of the many very old one day , think how you would feel being pushed around as if you are no longer important or even still alive, these are people not numbers.
Wolverhampton has a population of around 250,000 with around half that figure paying council tax. To cover the cost of updating the site for these 9 people would cost each tax payer around £16.00 maybe more.
If your council (on top of any other necessary rises what with central government cutting back) upped your bill by £16.00 would you be happy? Would you be happy if they told you it was for a special needs group consisting of 9 people but didn't happen to mention the people in question were a little old lady of 106 and her friends.

no I probably would'nt be happy about it, but would consider it necessary, I think some clever person should be able to come up with the money for a few years, and put a date of definate closing on it so everyone at the home knew it was going to happen, not just announce it shortly before it happened, the unexpected is also something the very elderly are fearful of.
I wish I had the sort of money that some folks had, it would be nice to be able to put wealth to good use instead of buying yet another expensive car or yacht.
