a) sold out his party's key beliefs and
b) 60% of the electorate thinking he's a liar over the WMD issue, a Conservative Party that's pretty much unelectable and a Lib Dem Party lead by a [edited out], and basically not in with a chance anyway - assuming that's what you mean...
This would be neatly cleared up (well, from a philosophical point of view) by making voting compulsary and allowing an abstain vote.
On the practical point of actually governing, I'd suggest Brian Blessed for running the country if no one else won.

I agree with Tartanwizz when the majority of the population questions the goverment on actions they wish to take surely we the public should vote as a nation, the idea that once you've selected labour and then thats it, everything they decide is obviously correct cos we voted them into power is annoying to say the least. On matters where there is public angst there should always be a vote, but there isn't and as such I don't vote nor do I believe we live in a democratic state. Let alone analyse from a philosophical viewpoint.
