I hesitate to accuse Araucaria of being unfair (which he never is) but did anyone else find this week's crossword a bit, well, difficult? I thought the arias presumed a knowledge that solvers did not, necessarily, have .
The Saturday Prize crosswords are meant to be more difficult than
the weekday ones. I didn't think Araucaria was being unfair as his clueing
was so precise that even if you were not aware of the arias concerned,
it was possible to solve them from the word play and then check a reference book
if needed.
