I am the same but would love a photo of the family together. My daughter (24) was only saying at lunchtime what a nice thing it would be to have .

For my Mum's 70th I wrote her a 'this is your life'. I asked old friends, members of family to tell me anything about Mum they could remember. I also looked up the history of the village and any events which were going on over her lifetime (this was made easier by her living in the same place!) I got loads of information and though it took some time to write, about 6 months she was thrilled that someone could make a book about her life and she discovered it hadn't been as boring as she thought!!!
I had the same quandry about a year back. Couldn't think of anything. But you've already answered your own question - she just wants to see here family. therefore you could think of throwing her a special party and invite the family to celebrate. it doesn't need to be in a swank hotel; we hired the function room of a decent pub, few quid for grub, hired a local musician mum likes, decorated the place (including getting photos of her as a kid with her brothers and sisters blown up to poster size by a local print company at about a fiver each and posting them around the room), got everyone in and then had her brother call for her. It was a surprise party, worked a treat.
y mum is a real diamond and i wouldnt of been able to cope tis year without her and its een a tough year as she lost her mum in jan (on my sisters birthday) and her dad in may (the day before i ot married) and on top f everything going on she has been my entor, oach and chauffer hrough all of my disability issue and i want to maker her brthday special.
its nt that she is a woman who has everything but is just content to have her 2 kids and grandkids around.
she has stated no party so thats a pain.
i do like the idea of a this is your life red folder thing sounds great. its funny how something so simple, if time consuming, to put together is so pleasing. well done you.
any other ideas wecome - bot myself and my brother are stumped lol

For mine my children took me to a chinese restaurant .Half way through our meal I saw a woman being presented with flowers and the chinese girls sang Happy Birthday. I turned and said to my kids Glad you not got any ideas like that or I'd kill you. 10 minutes later they came to our table with an ice sculptured swan full of fruit..Little did I know it had all been arranged previously. I still have the swan at bottom of the chest freezer. So just a small family meal I am sure she would appreciate it.
My family said I was a problem too... I'm a great 'Coronation St' fan and secretly they arranged a visit to the studio's, I didn't know where I was going they took me to the station & we all (3 of us) went to Manchester (from Essex) on the train, stayed in a hotel overnight and a taxi picked us up in the morning and I was wizzed to 'Corrie' I met 'Mike Baldwin' toured the street & studios, what a great 60th b/day, Perhaps something like that your mum may like tweenyb,.?
