Can anyone tell me of words in common use in English that are derived from Hebrew?

Please don't say 'Kosher', which is Yiddish.

Now, will someone tell me why my hyperlinks aren't appearing!!!!! And, whatever has happened to ''Preview Answer''?

''this list'', above, should be a hyperlink to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_words_of_Hebrew_origin

(Inserts expletives here!)
Oh, I see - the previous formatting is no longer necessary. Wish I'd been told there'd been a change.
Pascal in wikipedia's list [see heathfield's link] is a typo for 'paschal'. Pascal is an SI unit, a measurement of pressure, named after the scientist Pascal. Paschal is from the Hebrew for 'Passover' [ source: Oxford English Dictionary, for both words]
Pascal in wikipedia's list [see heathfield's link] is NOT a typo for 'paschal'. Both pascal and paschal are 'words in common use in English that are derived from Hebrew' - the former via the proper name Pascal, which is French for paschal.
absolutely fascinating
thank you Heath Field
