Did anyone watch this last night on BBC4 - it was a follow up to the original documentary shown 2 years ago. It was good to see this follow up though and how some of the children's lives had changed for the better, because of the exposure BBC reporter Kate Blewett gave on this orphanage.
If you get the chance to watch it, have a large box of tissues at the ready, it will break your heart.
hello Denise pet, is it on again, a few years ago I raised money for a similar cause in Romania, I was going to actually go with the Northumbria Police to visit the orphanage it was deemed too dangerous at the checkpoints, least thatts what they said when I handed over the cheque!
I know what you mean Daffy - There are lots of programmes about abandon children in these eastern europeon countries, but this one stood out, I think because most of the children had mental problems, the abuse seemed a lot worse. How people can treat kids this way, is completely beyond me, and the bottom line is about money and facilities, but human compassion is free.
Good on you Joy for fundraising for those poor kids.
The sad part is Den, I will never know where the money went and that was important for me to see, there are so many unscrupulous characters in those places!
I was invited to Northumbria Police HQ with someof the peple that helped to view a video of the orphange and it was said our money provide a washing machine and 'other electricals'
the orphanage was somewhere north of Transylvania I know
Afternoon Kunnie - whats heartbreaking is there must be many more of this orphanages or institutions as they call them that go unnoticed and without any Tv intervention.
I don't think Madonna will be visiting anytime soon, do you !!
