I would say prise. When it's "say" at the end of a clue they usually mean a word sounding like.So with the main clue being "force open" I would go with prise.Sounding like trophy...prize.
I would have to disagree shaneystar, when you win a trophy you win a prize.

When you force open a drawer you prize it open.
according to chambers to force open can be prize or prise ! I am putting prize as it covers all possibilities!
I think you will have to toss a coin Toronto !

Sorry kev100 and LindaBon, but I'm with shaneystar on this one! If PRIZE were the answer, then there would be no reason for the setter to finish off the clue with the word "say".

Using "say" then suggests a homophone; that is PRISE (which is a homophone of PRIZE). We'll only know for sure when the solutions are published!

Must admit crofter cryptic clues are not my strong point, I went for the obvious, perhaps toronto will be courteous enough to come back and let us know what the answer is.
