Why do people have kids?

Do you have a child, karma ? Every parent has days when they ask the same question of themselves, but we get back to loving our children just the same. Sometimes when ours misbehaved we'd sigh, look at one another and say, despairingly 'We blame the parents' ! We both had parents ourselves, of course, and we always blamed them when we were younger, so I think that...

I like my kids as little people.
They are really sarcastic, quite rude for their age and quite cocky. Coming out of the shop the other day a woman opened the door and my son walked out. He realised what he'd done and went back to the woman to apologise for being rude with no prompt from me. That kind of thing makes you realise you doing something right.

Well.....women.....sort of cultural really..............not 50 yrs ago, if someone had been married for more than 18months and had not been pregnant, then there was a touch of" something wrong with her." Parents wanted grandchildren and the pressure was on to have kids. The usual...doesn't he have his dad's eyes , my , what a lovely baby....the are ALL ugly and look the same. School.....isn't he bright and ultra intelligent.............etc and I could go on.
Now, there seems to be a culture among some women....."I am not maternal" and not having children, these women do not miss ANYTHING, and I can see where they are coming from.
Why do people have children?
a) because they don't use contraception
b) to avoid going through life unfulfilled.
Mine?.....initially plated the father role.....now....the glamour soon wore off. OK at the time, but no big deal.
Some people treat parenthood as a sort of religion.....their whole life besotted by their "offspring"
To those career women who have not had children..............you haven't miss much and ignore the "hype"

Morning Sqad !
If people choose not to have children, that's absolutely fine and their absolute choice. But to say they haven't missed much - no, don't agree. I would have missed out on one hell of a lot without my children in my life. They aren't my entire life, or my whole reason for existing and my world doesn't entirely revolve around them - didn't even when they were little, but I am so glad to have had them.

salla....morning darling...."not missed much"....this was a personal opinion for those women who have never born a child.
Those who have had children cannot be asked to understand the feelings of those who have had children. The "burn them at the stake" attitude to childless women is old fashioned and in my opinion distasteful.

Thanks for all your answers.
I was just posing the question as I was thinking about a childs future life these days. Its hard to find a decent job that pays well and where the people are nice. A decent, well paid, enjoyable job. Its pretty impossible to buy your own home. Violence and crime. I was just considering these facts and wondering why people have kids considering the problems they might face in their adult life.
I've always up until when I posted this question wanted kids but then thinking about the struggles you have to face in life I was just wondering why?
I do think people without children shouldn't be looked down upon and people with children seem to be looked at like they are kind of 'better' in some way for having children.
