Really good cheap red wine?

I love a glass of red wine (or twelve) of an evening, to go with my dinner - or forget the dinner! I just wondered if anyone could recommend any really tasty bottles that are quite cheap? I normally go to the supermarket, and have found the following to be great: Rawson's Retreat, most Hardy's ones, the Gallo Turning Leaf, Fetzer blah blah blah... I am hoping not to spend more than �7 and generally like them pretty full-bodied. Thanks for any help you may have.

For �7, you'll get THREE bottles of Bulgarian Country red wine in a supermarket, which is absolutely wonderful...sweet and smooth, and very more-ish. But also, as I've just mentioned in the post above, Californian Blossom Hill now takes some beating and is the new top of my list..!!

For around a fiver, M&S have a good selection of their "own" wines. Their Jumilla is also very good (maybe a pound dearer). Sainsbury's Jumilla is full-bodied and around the �5 mark.

Wine snobs will probably turn up their noses, but for every day drinking we have Sainsbury's Claret at about �2.98. It's smooth, medium bodied and delicious.

Sainsbury currently has a half-price offer bringing the Spanish Garnacha down to �2.99.

But if your budget is �7, thats not cheap in UK terms where the average price paid for a bottle of wine is �3.98 and the usual cut off point is �5, and you should be able to find some interesting and individualistic wines a lot better than the industry bulk wines like Gallo Blossom Hill etc.

Try popping in Oddbins and look for France, South Africa and Chile for good value. In particular, Flagstone Longitude at �5.99 (blend of several varieties giving a tremendous berry fruitiness - made by Bruce Jack), and Porcupine Ridge Merlot at �6.99.

I had that Garnacha from Sainsbury's last night - it was VERY nice. However, once I'm hooked the price is going to go back up to �6 a bottle! Tesco do a very nice Prestige Grenache - around �3.80 full price.

Cetti, I bought a bottle of the Sainsbury's claret (which is �2.58 in my local!!) and I can say as a daily drinking wine with a meal it was bloody lovely. Thanks!

try an english wine called hidden vinyards/valley in both red and white available at asda, costs �1.88 a bottle, the alchohol content isnt as high as some but i think it tastes great especially the red
