How do you capture an image from your screen. I have videos on my computer and i would like to be able to pause the video and save the image as a picture. Is this possible?

You pause the video where you want it, then press the button on your keyboard which says Prt Sc Sys Rq, then open up paint, and paste!

Ok cool. how do i save just the image once its in paint?
File > Save As
(and choose JPEG as the file type).

Sometimes this "Print Screen" button doesn't work with videos. At worst, I've had to use video software such as PowerDVD which has a capture function built in.

What im trying to do is save a part of the image, not the whole screen.

I know it saves the whole thing when you press prtscn and thats ok, but i want to save a part of the image once i save it to paint. I have been trying to outline the desired section of the image with the select option and save it that way, but it doesnt work right.
Select the bit you want, and Cut it to the clipboard, then create a new image in Paintbrush and Paste. Then save.
As mentioned, select the bit you want (click the wee rectangle just under the "Edit" menu in Paint : if you hover your mouse over the rectangle it'll say 'select'. Do that, then drag the mouse over the selection that you want to keep) press Ctrl+C to copy and then click File > New.
In the new image press Ctrl+V to paste the selection in.

If this leaves you with extra whitespace around your new image that you don't want, then just before pasting the selection in, reduce the size of the new white "canvas" by dragging the bottom right corner of it up & left to make it smaller.

stevie 21, i just tried that but it still copies the entire screen even after selecting the section of the image i want to keep. what am i doing wrong?

catso, what clipboard?
Paste in the entire image into paint and then follow my instructions to get just the bit you need. I've just done it again and it works fine for me.
The "clipboard" is just a name for the bit of memory that everything is copied to when you press Ctrl+C (or click Edit > Copy from the menu).
Use the button "Pr Scrn" on keyboard, without minimizing what u wanna capture then press it. U should goto graphic editors like MS Paint and Press CTRL+V, save the image…
U could also try PCHand Screen Capture. It could help u capture anything on the screen, it offers seven capture modes. It also provides a build-in editor with which u can edit and save the captured images. Im using it, it is easy to use, even for a Novice. …Hope it could help u!
