Try tescos off licence. I recall seeing it there but its v expensive
this may not be of much help but there is a strange little off licence in Soho (don't know the name) which seems to sell all sorts of weird and wacky drinks which take up the entire store window and i'm sure that they also stock Absinth. It may be on Old Compton St (can't remember, times in Soho always inebriated myself!) Go for a wander........
Are you sure? I thought Absinthe was made illegal years ago.
Tescos stock absinthe. I bought some Sebor from there just before xmas
Cetti - Absinthe was made illegal years ago - i believe the only reason that we can now buy it is because it no longer contains the lethal, and active ingredient wormwood (a herb).
Absinthe is still illegal in France but you *can* buy it legally in the UK - see http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Article.go?id=1231
i bought mine on the net! cheaper that way and sent from czechoslovakia. i got it from www.thedrinkshop.com and i've heard that this company are good too! www.laboheme.uk.com another drink related website that i like is www.drinkstuff.com always good for presents!
yep tesco stores stock it ,however jd wetherspoons outlets now sell it @ about 2.50 a shot....cheers!
You can buy in a good few off licences just very over priced because of alcohol tax and no herbal kick just flavours, I suggest distilling nettle tea
I'm not 100% sure, because I have never entered the shop, but karenearnold is correct: there is an oddity of an off licence at the end of old compton st (walk up wardour street on the right hand side from shaftesbury avenue, turn right onto old compton street and the shop will greet you very early on the left hand side) - there is a very striking picture in the window of a man looking seriously worse for wear, presumably due to a heavy session of said toxin! It looks Van Gogh-ish but I have never looked close enough to be sure. I would think you had a pretty good chance of finding absinthe here.
Just amending the the 'Old Compton St.' Answer. It is there in fact. Many different brands for sale. I bought La Fee's. It is called Gerry's Wines & Spirits. The brands I saw there did contain wormwood (and the magic ingredient tujone, which has the properties people are looking for in absinthe). The legal limit is 1/10th tujone to 1oz of of liquor. All the bottles sold at Gerry's fall in the legal limit. Hope this helps.
