Shredded Claws
Hi, I have noticed my cats claws appear to be all shredded, What could have caused this and what can I do. He does not appear to be in any pain at all.

He/she has simply been doing what cat's do... clawing and raking various objects, such as trees, your best living room furniture and digging in the garden to prepare a latrine. Just trim them with a good made-for-the-cat trimmer and file them smooth... it'll last a day or two. Best of luck!
I think you may be mistaking the top layer of the cats cuticle shedding for "shredding".A cats claw cuticle is not continous and cats shed the cuticles all the time,we notice it more because we have 5 cats.
Have a look around your house and you may find the odd claw cuticle/nail here and there.If you don't it's because cats (on the whole) tend to swallow the cuticle as they are grooming their claws.
As he is not in pain I don't think it's much to worry about,however top marks to you for being a concerned and observant cat owner!
