Mole wrenches were made by the Mole Molynx company in Newport in Gwent. Their factory was adjacent to the East entrance of the Bryn Glas tunnel.

The factory could be seen from the M$ and a message always used to appear on the roof from 'Mr Mole'.

If the factory was still there it would probably now read 'Mr Mole wishes all his readers a happy Christmas and happy new year'.
....and don't forget the Goon Bridge which spannered the Saltus River.................all gone now I'm afraid, except for the river, which has dwindled over the passing years to a mere rivet.
That should have been M4.
The man who actually invented the Mole wrench was a Scotsman by the name of Thomas Coughtrie.

He became the managing director of the company who gave their name to the wrench, and only passed away in August last year.
