I am making some fudge tonight for my boyfriend, but I have never made it before.  I have a recipe, and it sounds like it may be a bit tricky.  Has anyone else made fudge - is it easy and do you have any tips?! Thank you!

This one has been used at our humble abode for years...

Deep Dark Fudge
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow creme
1 can (5 oz.) evaporated milk (about 2/3 cup)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Line 8- or 9-inch square pan with foil. Butter foil; set aside.

2. Combine sugar, marshmallow creme, evaporated milk and butter in heavy medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, to a full boil. Boil, stirring constantly, 5 minutes. Remove from heat; add chocolate chips and vanilla. Stir just until chips are melted; pour into prepared pan. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Cut into squares. Store tightly covered in a cool, dry place. About 2-1/4 pounds fudge.

Thank you I will keep that for future reference - unfortunately I only got that this morning, so there is right now a rock hard lump of what looks like cow pat sitting in my fridge!  It didn't go well!
If it is rock hard pagey, I think you did quite well!! The hardest thing about making fudge is getting it to set. I find the recipe for Scottish "Tablet" is better than fudge.
