Learning Guitar

Ok, i would like to learn to play guitar. I know myself enough to know that it could just be a faze at the moment but im into music enough to know that even if i bought one and try, got bored, try, got bored and tried again i would eventually get there.

Thing is, im skint, i have been looking locally for second hand stuff but have no real knowledge on whats good and whats not.

Is this deal from Lidl decent enough for me at the moment to get the basics do you think? As an absolute, complete beginner who knows nothing?

However, a guitar teacher I know always suggests that parents look in Argos to kit their kids out for the first time. I see no reason for adult models to be any different. He reckons that, whilst they're no virtuoso instrument, they're quite suitable for the beginner, who can then afford to upgrade if they decide to take it further, and cheap enough not to have wasted your money if you do happen to give up.

I would suggest that you get a cheap steel strung guitar. The one from LIdl is nylon strung and they have a tendency to go out of tune more often. This can be very off putting especially when you are learning.

I would recommend a Falcon acoustic. I learnt on a Falcon steel strung acoustic and it is perfectly adequate to learn on. I would also recommend that you buy a digital tuner. Whilst this will come to about twice the LIdl price, you will save yourself hours of frustration and the feeling that you want to chuck it all in because it keeps gping out of tune.

I don\'t think you will get a better guitar for the money. Also if you learn to play an acoustic first you will find it easier to play electric later, it can be more difficult if you reverse this process.

Good luck and remember playing is fun not a chore so just pick it up on odd occasions and play about rather than saying you must practice a set time every day. I would recommend pick it up 2 or 3 times a day for a minimum of 10 mins and look online there is lots of info on chords etc. If you learn to play the following first you can strum a lot of tunes.
