I have a problem with the concept of MS producing a product (windows essential security
) to protect you from the security holes in another of their products (Windows). After all, if they were any good at security, there wouldn't be a need for AV programs in the first place!

Rojash - There's nothing wrong with MS bringing out security products. How is it any different to a car manufacturer charging you extra for a security package when you buy a car? Surely they should make the base model harder to steal in the first place?
Products and services don't work like that. Besides, many of these security programs protect from malware that cannot be patched for. MS has already shown that Windows can be made much more secure using UAC in Vista. But, NOBODY LIKES IT because it removes the smoothness and ease of use of simply launching programs and changing settings. At the end of the day, it's impossible to make something so popular completely secure, and if you're going to offer extra products, you charge for them. That's how the world works and it's no different from any of the other security software vendors. They make money from the threat of attack.
